This stream will offer case studies of successful efforts to achieve legal recognition of sign languages and the implications of this recognition for Deaf people’s lives. Why Deaf?
Deaf communities worldwide are facing rapid changes, withgenetic and demographic changes transforming communitiesworldwide. Deaf Studies scholars now face the question: Why should Deaf people exist? What do Deaf people offer to the world that other people cannot? Why would the world be a poorer place without Deaf people?

This session will look into the various conflicts faced by developing countries in uniting their members. It will empowerthem with a range of skills in conflict management and ideas on how to build a better working relationship with their membership.

Human Rights Instruments
he four streams for the Human Rights Commission are designedto give Congress attendees knowledge of relevant human rights instruments. Presentations will offer Deaf people the opportunityto learn how to use these tools to efficiently lobby governments and civic institutions to implement full human rights.
Presentations on the human rights of particular groups, such as youth and senior citizens, are welcomed.
