Programme
DOCUMENTARY MOVIES BY DEAF PEOPLE OR ABOUT DEAF PEOPLEIn 2007 the Assembly of the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) met in Spain and chose the South Africa's bid to host the 16th World Congress of the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD), which will be held in Durban in 2011. Among the objectives set by the Organisers of the XVI World Congress of the WFD, are to offer a wide cultural programme including as many artistic and cultural programmes as possible to the Deaf delegates. For that purpose, a room the ICC in Durban will be specifically reserved for screening documentaries, movies, short films and reports as a clear sample of the creativity and work done by and about Deaf people. People interested in participating in this activity are invited to submit their proposals. They will be assessed by a specialised team that will consider their screening possibilities for this Congress.
- Eligible proposals will include all
submissions made by Deaf and/or hearing producers and directors, provided
that their themes focus on matters directly related to the Deaf community.
- Selection will be done on a first come
first served basis and taking into account quality assessment.
- The pieces of work to be selected must not
include any content that might diminish dignity, promote or justify hatred,
violence, marginalisation or social exclusion by reasons of gender,
ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability and other similar circumstances.
- Recordings must be captioned in English
- Authors or producers can submit as many
movies, documentaries, short films or reports as they wish.
- Participants will authorize Congress
Organisers to completely or partially reproduce their pieces of work during
Congress days (from 18 to 24 July 2010), within the space reserved at the
ICC for that purpose and every time the Organising Committee deems
appropriate.
- The deadline for receiving these materials
will be 30th November 2010.
- The results of the selected plays to be
screened during the Congress will be notified to those who have
sent the materials.
